PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE      David Lambertson

Fellow Lions,

What is the difference between our club and the other organizations many of us belong to? After all, when things are going well, neighborhood associations throw picnics and eat together. When things are going well, friends get together for dinner parties, and clubs meet over a shared interest such as collecting something. When things are going well, there may be a group that gets together to play cards or attend a sporting event. The difference is when things don’t go quite as well.

I am reminded of a time when at church there was a need for a safe place where kids could come after school to play rather than being on the streets. The church solved the problem through shared effort and resources. Likewise, when there were health problems within the church body, other members would make meals, send cards, or visit and overall show support for one another. I have not seen this much outside of a church setting.

We enjoy that camaraderie, as well. When things are going well, we share our meals, our jokes, and good time together. When things are not going so well, we rise up as a group in support of our causes and each other. One way I would mention is the cards in support of people who are facing health challenges, but there are countless other ways we support each other. It truly is amazing and wonderful, and sometimes we take it for granted because we are used to it.

We also work every month to complete our usual tasks, the normal long list of our projects. I can say that although some few people are used to it, most people that we help are full of admiration and gratitude for the service and money we provide to them in their times of need. It feels great to remember this, and it fuels out desire to do more.

There are many others who would love to experience the same feeling, and are hungry to work to get it, but don’t know how. We can supply the how. Let’s just invite them to lunch, and
expose them to our group, our family, and let them decide if they like it. Some will not, some won’t be ready. Many will.

-David Lambertson, President
